Transforming myself

Hostel life can totally change your personality. Leaving the comfort of your home provides you with all of the life skills you'll need to survive.

Every girl wishes to travel the world and reach for the stars, but only a few are given the opportunity. I consider myself fortunate to have had my parents' support in pursuing my desire of further education.

Because I am from Kolkata (metropolitan city) I never get chance to stay in hostel, I had done till my bachelor degree from Kolkata only,  on the other hand, never went away from my parents to study. As a result, I harboured a secret longing to live on my own.
When I started my post graduation degree in 2020 . But due to corona I joined hostel after second semester.I was really looking forward to my hostel life. I obtained the kind of room I had envisioned for myself in the college hostel by chance.

I was nervous when my family came to leave me for the Howrah station; how would I handle my life without them? However, time has flown by, and I have now worked as a hosteller for three months. These have been the most formative years of my life as a self-sufficient young woman.

For me, living in the university hostel has been a rewarding experience. It has aided me in gaining a new outlook on life.
Sense of accountability

I was in charge of my own decisions from the beginning. I definitely improved my time management abilities by waking up at 8.45a.m. and yet making it to class at 9.00 a.m.Thats the other matter that till now I never reached my first class that is from 9.00am on time.,ЁЯШЬ

I used to eat puchka after the class was over , by going out of the university.2-3 days in a week, and by the end of the month, I was counting pennies. Although the pocket pinches prevented me from purchasing my favourite denim, they did teach me to value money and manage my finances.Every new day taught me something new about life. I learned to do everything I used to rely on my mother for on my own. It made me strong and self-reliant

Sensibility to change

My first solo train trip, packing my baggage, walking to the station, finding my seat, the constant thumping of my heart till I arrived home - it made me brave, and now I don't hesitate to grab my backpack on the spur of the moment and embark on a new adventure.

Living with individuals from various backgrounds from last 3 months helped me improve my people skills. I learnt to persevere in the face of adversity, to be resilient, to keep my cool, and to keep going no matter what.
